Why These 3 Destinations In Canada Are The Most Popular For International Visitors

21/05/2023

Last Updated 1 second agoIt’s 2023, and travelers are exploring the destinations they’ve always wanted to visit. More countries, like Canada, are investing in tourism to get the most out of this industry and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a new report shared by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), the 2023 Economic Impact Research (EIR), Canada is catching up strongly and heading towards 2019 numbers.

The document states that international travelers have returned to Canada, and these cities remain must-see global destinations:

  • Vancouver.
  • Toronto.
  • Montreal.

Canada has unique landscapes, fascinating attractions, multiculturalism, great restaurants, and impressive outdoor experiences.

Here’s why these cities are so popular among international visitors:

The West Coast Gem: Vancouver

For many international travelers, this is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and Canadians love it too: it has Canada’s highest population density.

Vancouver offers visitors beautiful scenic views, multiple activities and attractions, beautiful nature, and great shops and restaurants.

Travelers from the United States can get to Vancouver by train. Amtrak has restored routes that were suspended for years, like the service from Portland that was restored just a few weeks ago.

Air Canada has also been building alliances and creating new routes —including long-distance routes like Dubai— to bring more travelers to this destination.

In Vancouver, travelers enjoy visiting parks like the iconic Stanley Park, which is surrounded by water and offering visitors amazing views of the city and the mountains, the urban park Queen Elizabeth, and the classical Chinese garden of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen.

Vancouver is home to impressive museums like the Museum of Anthropology and Vancouver Art Gallery, but for adventure travelers, the most exciting attraction is the Capilano Suspension Bridge. Walking through a rainforest on a 140-meter-long suspension bridge? It’s possible in Vancouver!

There are also multiple restaurants featuring international and Canadian cuisine, hidden patios, rooftops, and galleries, to drink and taste delicious food while enjoying and admiring this gorgeous city.

Canada’s Largest City: Toronto

Don’t be fooled by its modern buildings and impressive development. Toronto is also home to over 10 million trees—18% of the city is dedicated to beautiful parks.

It’s not another concrete jungle, and it has so much more to offer.

Toronto is Canada’s economic hub, and travelers enjoy exploring the financial district and admiring skyscrapers like the First Canadian Place or the Scotia Plaza.

But the most famous tower is, of course, the CN Tower. This fascinating structure measures 553 meters, and visitors can enjoy the most amazing views from the top.

The bravest travelers can do the edge walk, a life-changing experience where people get to hang from the top of the tower and feel the wind on their skin, hands-free!

This fascinating city is also home to the only authentic castle in North America, built in 1914: Casa Loma. This gothic building is also a museum and has a lovely restaurant where travelers can have an unforgettable candlelit dinner.

La Métropole Culturelle: Montréal

Those looking for a rich cultural experience in Canada will definitely find it in Montreal.

This beautiful city has a strong European and French influence. 70% of the population speaks French, and the mix of historic and modern architecture makes Montreal a must-visit in Canada.

Travelers will find well-preserved buildings from the 17th to 19th century, as well as modern architectural marvels like the Olympic Park or the Musée D’art Contemporain de Montréal.

There are also multiple events and festivals travelers can attend, and those visiting this summer can enjoy exciting and long nights as terrasses will open until 3:00 am.

Though, tourists should never skip visiting the Old Montreal or the Biodome and Botanical Garden because of a hangover!

And even though Montreal’s landscapes and surface are beautiful and enjoyable, especially during sunny days, travelers should visit Montreal’s Underground City.

RÉSO, as this underground network is known, offers visitors a “surprise” experience of a hidden city with restaurants, shops, corridors, and accommodations worth visiting.
