Viking Cruises has announced the newest addition to its fleet of ocean-going cruise ships will be called Viking Vesta.
The new ship, due to enter service in 2025, will be the 12th sister ship in the Viking ocean fleet, but unlike her fleet mates, Viking Vesta will be slightly larger.
Viking Vesta will be ten meters longer and two meters wider than her predecessors, giving her a passenger capacity of 998 guests, with additional public rooms.

The vessel will spend her inaugural season in the Mediterranean from July, 2025, sailing 7- to 21-night voyages to different destinations in the region, including the Greek Islands, the French Riviera, Adriatic Sea, and more
Viking Vesta is also scheduled to offer two cruises to Northern Europe and Iceland during her maiden season.
Although the largest vessel in the ocean fleet thus far, Viking describes Viking Vesta as an all-veranda small ship designed to “dock where larger ships cannot.”
At 54,300-gross tons the ship offers an array of facilities including a complete wellness center, two specialty restaurants, a main dining room and a theater.
Viking Vesta will also offer several bars and lounges, a winter garden, two pool decks and cabin categories that include the 140sqm Owner’s Suite, which features a dining area for six, a private library, an ocean-view dry sauna, and more.
The announcement of Viking Vesta’s name comes just a few weeks after the float out of Viking Vela in November last year.
Viking Vela was the first of the larger series of ships for Viking, featuring 499 staterooms that can host 998 guests.
Both ships are being built by the Italian shipyard Fincantieri.
“Together with Fincantieri, we have built the world’s most elegant ocean vessels, and it is always a proud day when our newest ship meets water for the first time,” Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking, said at the time.
“Our small, elegant ocean ships are ranked #1 by both Travel + Leisure and Condé Nast Traveler. We are different than other lines because of all that we do, but Viking also stands apart for all that we do not do. No children. No casinos. No nickel and diming. We look forward to introducing even more curious travelers to the Viking way of exploration,” he added.
