United Launches 6 New Routes Including Flights To Caribbean Hotspots

26/05/2023

Last Updated 1 second agoThis week, United Airlines announced a swath of expansions at its hub in the Denver International Airport. The expansion includes more flights, new routes, and additional gates, planes, and clubs.

Once completed, the new services together will mark the airline’s largest presence in Denver to date.

Denver Is On The Rise

Spurred by Denver’s rising popularity, United’s expansion is essential if the airline wants to keep up with demand in the city.

Not only is Denver’s population booming, but its residents are also chomping at the bit for new domestic and international destinations.

The city’s large number of millennials combined with the growth of hybrid work means that United needs to up its game in Denver.

United CEO Scott Kirby explained the connection.

“Denver is one of the fastest growing cities in the country and as the Mile High City’s most flown airline, it’s essential that we maintain the most modern infrastructure and fleet to support our local employees and customers and deliver a great experience. Our expansion in Denver will further enable us to connect our customers to destinations across the globe and revitalize our presence at the airport with modern, customer-friendly offerings.”

Denver and United have become so connected that the city’s mayor declared May 23rd as ‘United Airlines Day’ in response to this announcement.

With over 10,000 local employees, United has become Denver’s largest private employer and will hire over 2,300 more this year.

United Adds More Flights And New Routes From Its Hub

35 new flights are being rolled out by United at the Denver International Airport; this includes new destinations and increased service to already popular destinations.

Early-morning departures and late-evening arrivals are set to double. Destinations including Dallas/Fort Worth, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orlando, Phoenix, Portland, San Diego, and Seattle are set to see increased service.

The new flights will mark a milestone for the airline and ensure that they remain the dominant airline at DIA. With over 60,000 outbound seats departing the city, more than 150 destinations, and 450 daily departures, United is outright dominating the competition in Denver.

This fall will see the addition of six new routes servicing the city, which is welcome news to travelers seeking more choices both home and abroad. The new Denver routes will include:

  • Montego Bay, Jamaica – service begins November 4th
  • San Juan, Puerto Rico – service begins October 29th
  • Dayton, Ohio – service begins September 29th
  • Greensboro, North Carolina – service begins September 29th
  • Lexington, Kentucky – service begins September 29th
  • Asheville, North Carolina – service begins September 29th

Notably, four of these destinations are not currently serviced by any airline in Denver. San Juan, Dayton, Greensboro, and Lexington currently have no direct flights from the airport.

The new connections will open up travel options for travelers to these underserved destinations.

More Gates For United And New Clubs In Denver Airport

All these new planes will need somewhere to park, right? To manage the anticipated influx of passengers and flights, United will add 12 new gates over the course of the next year.

The new gates will be located in the A and B concourses, bringing the total number of gates held by United at DEN to 90.

Concourse A and B will also be home to several new United Clubs. One brand new club is set to land in Concourse A, while Concourse B will see the reopening of two recently upgraded clubs, including the largest United Club in the world.

All three clubs will have two floors, a Colorado-inspired design, free high-speed WiFi, and self-scan entry gates. Once completed, the footprint of United Club locations in the Denver Airport will top 100,000 square feet.
