Well, one U.S. city is set to change that.

No longer will travelers have to deal with overpriced food courts and the hassle of being herded like cattle more than once.

Reaching London isn’t terribly difficult, but nonstop routes make a flight ‘across the pond’ all the merrier.

For the first time in 16 years, British Airways is set to make history for one of America’s most underrated cities with the return of direct flights to the UK’s most renowned destination.

Though travelers will have to wait for the turn of the calendar, tickets are already on sale for what is destined to be the most exciting new escape in years for St. Louis.

London Awaits!

St. Louisans have hockey, baseball, and an abundance of Italian eats to keep to busy, but when it comes to international travel, their airport is lacking.

While most go to nearby Chicago for a city for a cultural getaway, now they can simply hop aboard a British Airways flight to immerse in world-renowned landmarks and judge for themselves if the food is down right boring or a misunderstood culinary treasure.

I mean, have you had Shepherd’s Pie?

London beholds numerous attractions drawing a crowd all across the globe. Now that Big Ben is ringin’ and dingin’ again, that adds one more to the mix of a plethora of timeless marvels to check off your travel wishlist.

Though undeniably pricey, London is arguably one of Europe’s top cities worth the splurge, where an obligatory bright red double-decker bus ride is more than just a way to get around, but a bucket-list rite of passage.

Home to classic pubs to grab a pint of a beer you may not be able to pronounce even though it’s technically “English” and stunning historical sites that are simply incomparable to other European icons, the great people of St. Louis should be whipping out their credit cards ready to book one of the easiest international vacations from their city next year.

27 U.S. Cities Now Fly To London: Is Your City On The List?

Wanna feel overwhelmed? The answer is probably a resounding “no”, but you gotta do your due diligence when traveling abroad.

London has 6 airports.

However, 4 of them are only useful to you if you’re already galavanting across Europe — and those would be Stansted (STN), Luton (LTN), Southend (SEN), and London City (LCY).

Gatwick and Heathrow are the pair that should be on your radar if departing from the U.S. as most of us do.

16 Years In The Making: St. Louis Welcomes British Airways In 2026

Why is it a big deal St. Louis resident scan soon fly to London nonstop? Because there are limited international flights out of STL.

British Airways is set to change that after a 16 year gap in service and best of all, tickets are live already!

The launch date is slated for April 19, 2026 on a roomy Boeing 787-7.

This marks only the second direct option to Europe with the other being Frankfurt via Lufthansa — not exactly the dreamiest of Germany’s getaways.

The new St. Louis-London route is set to operate 4 times a week, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, opening the door not only for the UK but other European destinations that have been a headache to reach due to lack of accessibility.
