These 5 U.S. Beaches Were Just Named The Best In The World

20/05/2023

Last Updated 1 hour agoWhich beaches in the United States are the best?

According to a new ranking, five U.S. beaches are among the top 50 best beaches in the world. The ranking, presented by Banana Boat, collected votes from more than 750 travel experts, journalists, and bloggers to determine the world’s best beaches.

While the top spots include beaches in Australia, Seychelles, and the Philippines, five beaches in the United States and its territories made the cut within the top 50.

Here are the top 5 beaches in the United States that rank among the best in the world:

1. Trunk Bay, U.S. Virgin Islands

Trunk Bay is ranked sixth on the list of the best beaches in the world. This beach on the island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands is known for its pristine natural beauty. It gets its name for the leatherback turtles, called “trunks” locally, that can often be found swimming in the bay.

This beach is part of the Virgin Islands National Park, which accounts for the unspoiled nature of the beach. Crystal-clear blue waters and white sandy shores make this beach one of the most beautiful in the world. It’s also a great spot for snorkeling.

Since the U.S. Virgin Islands is a territory of the United States, American travelers can visit this Caribbean paradise without a passport.

2. Honopu Beach, Hawaii

Next on the list of the world’s best beaches is Honopu Beach in Hawaii. This beach ranked seventh in the world after Trunk Bay.

Located on the island of Kauai, this remote beach on the breathtaking Na Pali Coast isn’t easy to reach. It requires swimming in from a boat or a neighboring beach, which can be difficult depending on the season and the ocean conditions.

But if you put in the effort to reach this isolated beach, you’ll get to experience one of the most stunning beaches in the world — and chances are, you’ll have it all to yourself.

3. McWay Beach, California

Another U.S. beach that made the cut for the best beaches in the world is McWay Beach in California. This beach ranked 16th overall in the world and third in the United States.

Located along the rugged Big Sur coast of central California, this is another beach that’s very tricky to reach. The beach itself can only be accessed by kayaking or paddle boarding from another beach, but it’s totally inaccessible much of the time.

However, it’s possible to get a great view of this beach from a nearby hiking trail. What makes this beach remarkable is McWay Falls, an 80-foot waterfall that cascades down directly onto the beach, which is located in a picturesque cove, making for a truly stunning sight.

4. Lanikai Beach, Hawaii

Another Hawaiian beach to make the list is Lanikai Beach, also on the island of Kauai, which is known for its rugged and wild natural beauty.

Ranking 21st on the overall list, this beach is popular due to its crystal-clear waters and powdery white sand. Lanikai means “heavenly sea” in Hawaiian, which is a fitting name for this beautiful beach.

This beach is also much easier to access than the previous two mentioned on this list, and it’s a popular place for swimming and snorkeling.

5. Flamenco Beach, Puerto Rico

Finally, one of the best beaches in the world can be found in Flamenco Beach, Puerto Rico. This beach, ranked 26th in the world, is located on the small island of Culebra off the coast of the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico.

With swaying palm trees, clear aqua-blue water, and a white sandy beach, Flamenco Beach is among the most beautiful destinations in the Caribbean.
