And if you’re a foodie who loves to eat, then the quality of the food in your vacation destination is a huge selling point.
So where should you go?
When it comes to choosing restaurants, the Michelin Guide really knows what they’re talking about.
They’ve made a list of 10 of the most exciting foodie destinations to explore in 2025.
And two of those destinations are right here in the U.S.!
Eating in Austin, Texas
Austin has recently been added to the Michelin Guide’s roster thanks to its vibrant and exciting food scene.
Austin is home to 44 Michelin-rated restaurants.
14 of these have been awarded Bib Gourmands for their great value, and there are also 7 Michelin-starred restaurants in the city.
But what makes Austin such an exciting place to eat? It’s the variety of food that makes this city so fun to eat in!
As is Texan tradition, you’ll find plenty of great BBQ joints, but if you’re looking for something a little more high-end, then you’ll find incredible fine dining spots too.
We love Franklin Barbeque, which has achieved icon status thanks to its beef brisket, pork ribs, and long lines.
And don’t miss LeRoy and Lewis Barbeque, which started life as a food truck and has now earned a bib gourmand thanks to its epic barbecue dishes.
The spice-crusted beef cheeks and daily sausage are particular highlights.
For something a little more high-end, try the farm-to-table restaurant Emmer & Rye, which focuses on locally sourced produce served well. The yellowfin tuna is one of the most popular dishes on the menu here.
Things To Do in Austin, Texas
Because you can’t do nothing but eat and drink all day (believe me, I’ve tried!), you’ll be pleased to know that Austin is also home to plenty of great things to see and do.
Austin is famous for its live music scene, and you can visit visit Texas’ State Capitol building here.
Looking for a culture injection? The Cathedral of Junk is as bizarre as it is fascinating.
A modern installation art temple, this is a multilevel shelter that’s been built from 60+ tons of used furniture, home goods, and, frankly, junk! Visits are by appointment only.
And if you visit during the summer months, visit the Barton Springs Municipal Pool, which is in Zilker Park and is fed from underground springs. This beautiful pool is a great place to burn off all those extra calories!
Eating in Miami, Florida
Miami has a well-deserved reputation for being one of America’s most exciting foodie destinations.
The city boasts 64 Michelin-rated restaurants, including 17 Bib Gourmand restaurants, 13 one-star restaurants, and one 2 star restaurant.
Miami has a really multicultural food scene, so no matter what kind of cuisine you’re looking for, you’ll find it here. Visit Elcielo for Colombian food or Stubborn Seed for a blend of Latin American and Asian dishes.
There are only 32 restaurants with 2 Michelin stars in the whole of the U.S, so this is a real indicator of quality. L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon is the one two-Michelin-star restaurant in Miami, and it’s well worth visiting. Each dish is so beautifully presented that it looks like a work of art.
Another high-end restaurant worth bragging about is Torno Subito, which serves contemporary Italian dishes. If you only order one thing, make it the famous tortellini. And you’ll regret not staying for a tiramisu dessert.
Things To Do in Miami, Florida
So what is there to see and do between meals in Miami?
Well, first things first, you can’t visit Miami without going to the beach.
White sand and stunning turquoise waters make this an incredible spot for watersports, and the iconic South Beach neighborhood is worth visiting for its vibrant atmosphere and iconic Art Deco architecture.
South Beach is also known as Miami’s surf capital, so if you want to work up a sweat, then this is the place to be.
If you’re interested in art, then don’t miss the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), which is an international art gallery dedicated to works from the 20th and 21st centuries.
Tor BrierleyTor has been writing for more than 20 years and has visited 25 countries (and counting!) She specializes in European and family travel and never says no to new adventures.
