Puerto Plata, known as “The Bride of the Atlantic,” is set to kick off 2025 with a tourism boom, welcoming 81 cruise ships to its main ports, Amber Cove and Taíno Bay.
In January alone, Amber Cove will host 27 vessels, while Taíno Bay will receive 54, offering thousands of visitors the chance to explore the province’s natural beauty and cultural charm.
Carlos Atahualpa Paulino, regional director of the Ministry of Tourism, emphasized the economic significance of this influx, noting its critical role in strengthening Puerto Plata’s economy and solidifying its status as a tourism hub. Since its opening in 2015, Amber Cove has been pivotal for cruise tourism in northern Dominican Republic, a success further bolstered by Taíno Bay’s inauguration in 2021.
