It has been 25 years since the International Passenger Terminal opened in North Shields.The number of cruise ships calling at the River Tyne has grown back to pre-pandemic levels, amid efforts to upgrade passenger facilities.
A record 61 cruises called at the North Shields International Passenger Terminal last year, bringing 164,000 tourists with them.
Port of Tyne bosses have highlighted the increase – more than a 120% rise on 2022’s level – amid the Port’s 25th anniversary of cruise activity.
