It goes without saying some of America’s favorite beaches have been hit hard by Mother Nature lately, but there are still plenty of great getaways to satisfy your sun and sand fix.
One of which is brimming with fun for all ages and boasts some of the prettiest scenery in the state.
I mean, how could it not when it takes up 60 miles of coastline?
Charleston may have become the shining star of South Carolina, but when it comes to beach vacations, Myrtle Beach is the place to be.
Despite being home to some truly underrated beach towns, Myrtle Beach keeps the whole family happy any time of year, but fall is a perfect time to visit.
The Atlantic’s Affordable Beach Haven
Planning a beach vacation can trigger our anxieties when it comes to spending, but Myrtle Beach is an exception to the rule.
While there are plenty of places to visit, whether on the West Coast, the Gulf, or other East Coast gems, resorts can be pricey!
Here in Myrtle Beach, though, you can find a wide range of accommodations suitable for your needs, whether it’s a cozy 3-star boutique, a high-end resort, or plentiful vacation rentals listed on local agencies and Airbnb.
On the lower end, there are quaint places like Gazebo Inn Oceanfront to enjoy seaside views for under $50 per night.
Leveling up from there are the Caribbean Resort & Villas for just $99 per night and towering upscale digs such as Anderson Ocean Club And Spa for about $150.
Local Mom & Pop restaurants won’t break the bank either, many serving up fresh southern and coastal cuisine.
Dotting the area are many fun attractions, which provide family-friendly experiences at enticing price points.
For a city with less than 40,000 residents, remember this pretty beach town is a tourist hub. Use supply and demand to your advantage!
Fun For All Ages
At first glance looking at Myrtle Beach’s skyline, you can’t help but notice the massive SkyWheel standing out amongst glitzy condos and resorts.
Taking a ride only sets you back $19.99 to keep the whole crew entertained. Better yet, they offer ‘Sunrise’ and Sunset’ packages for epic views to start or cap your day by taking in gorgeous views as far as the eye can see.
While there are some unexpected gems, keep in mind Myrtle Beach is very touristy, but hey, the kids don’t know that!
Along the bustling Boardwalk, you’ll find name-brand attractions such as Ripley’s Aquarium and Hollywood Wax Museum, but a hidden gem that stands out is the Myrtle Beach Pinball Museum to tap into your inner nostalgia.
Another would be to go away from the beach to the nearby town of Murrells Inlet for a scenic Plantation River Tour that only costs $50 for a ‘Cooter’ ride.
Yeah…we didn’t name it…
And, of course, with a name like Myrtle Beach, there’s tons of coastline to choose from to spend sunny days enjoying the region’s
Myrtle Beach’s ‘Grand Strand’ And Hidden Gems
In many places right about now, people are cozying up next to fireplaces and dreading Gam Gam’s “famous” cranberry sauce a month from now.
But that doesn’t have to be you!
Myrtle Beach is a perfect fall escape. In November, the weather is still commonly in the 70s, followed by mild winter months.
There are numerous pockets of paradise to explore and other natural settings scattered throughout the area that go overlooked.
Of course, it’s hard to miss the Grand Strand, a 60-mile stretch of coast with white sand.
To escape the crowds, you can go off-the-beaten-path to places like Huntington Beach State Park for scenic hikes or Pawley’s Island for fewer tourists and a delightful ‘historic district’ to peruse.
