Margaritaville Beach Resort Nassau Day Pass Review

During one of our cruise stops in Nassau, we purchased a day pass to the Margaritaville Beach Resort, a vibrant oasis just a short walk from the cruise port. I included a brief overview of our experience in a trip report, but this place deserves a deeper dive into nearby retreat.

Before we left home, we went online and purchased day passes for the Margaritaville Beach Resort & Waterpark pass from Resort for a Day. When we visited, we booked online, paid the deposit, then paid the balance upon check-in onsite. Please note, there are different day passes available based on the, season, day of the week and also versions that include lunch.

The day pass offers access to the Fins UP Waterpark pool and amenities, as well as beach access with lounge chairs, umbrellas, and towels. Below is the description of the day pass offering at the time of publication.

The resort is surrounded by palm trees, turquoise waters, white-sand beaches, and plenty of sunshine. You won’t find a better spot to kick back, relax, and get into the Margaritaville state of mind! Come spend your day at the Bahamas’ new resort, conveniently located within walking distance of the cruise port! Featuring Fins Up Water Park, where you can spend your day splashing around the lazy river, take a ride on the water slides, or lounge poolside. Prefer to get your feet in the sand? Relax beach side as you watch the boats pull into the marina. Why choose one when you can do it all?

You can purchase the day pass online directly from Margaritaville Beach Resort here, and even in person at the entrance. However, there may be capacity limitations which is why I would purchase ahead of time.

Margaritaville Beach Resort is conveniently located about a 15-minute walk from the port area. Depending on your ship’s docking location, you should be able to catch a glimpse of the resort in the distance.

Once we arrived in Nassau, we made our way ashore into the Nassau Cruise Port area, exiting onto Woodes Rodgers Walk heading west walking towards Señor Frogs, where the road takes a turn left and becomes Navy Lion Road. Continue on Navy Lion Road and you will see the Margaritaville sign post with a parrot on top.

As you make the right turn onto Marlborough Street, you will eventually pass British Colonial and keep walking to the corner where there is an another parrot on a post sign.

Take the slight right onto West Bay Street and you will see the Margaritaville Beach Resort.

As you approach the resort, keep walking down the street past the main lobby entrance. There is a separate, side entrance to the Fins Up Waterpark with a dedicated check-in area.

Once you spot the yellow building with a “Ticketing” sign on a surfboard, you made it. Time to check-in! This is where we paid our balance, were issued wristbands, and were welcomed in.

While I’ve always to walked over, you can easily hail a taxi right at the port. We considered taking a taxi back to the port at end of the day due to a passing thunderstorm, however, the rain let up enough allowing us to walk back.

When we entered Fins Up Waterpark, we passed the area where you can pick up the complimentary beach towels. This is a great option as it eliminates the need to carry towels from your cruise ship.

It is important to keep in mind that when you book a day pass for a resort, you are granted some guest privileges and it also means you are sharing the report amenities with guests staying on property. At times, we’ve discovered a very busy pool or beach area with limited seating available, but on our visit, we had two advantages – the weather was not promising and we arrived early and we were fortunate to have our pick of seats.

From our spot on the pool deck, we had a clear view of our ship, the Disney Magic, in the distance. Although it’s a short walk, it’s actually quite close to the port. Unfortunately, there’s no direct walkway along the waterfront because it would involve walking through the neighboring British Colonial resort’s property, which also offers day passes.

While you are poolside, you can order food and beverages from Feeding Frenzy, which serves burgers, hot dogs, salads, wraps, tacos, and a variety of cocktails, beer, and wine.

For the adventurous guests, there is a FlowRider boogie board simulation area available. I’m too old and I was not about to hurt myself on vacation.

A short walk from the pool is the included beach access which you can see had plenty of available loungers remaining.

The gate does lock and during our time there, a guard was on duty to open the gate, so make sure you and other members of your party are wearing the issued wristband.

Around lunch time, we opted to go inside to Vacation Café for lunch. The food was delicious, but the service was slow – everyone was on island time. Not sure if this is normal, but keep this in mind as it will cut into your time at the pool. On the weekends, they offer a brunch from 7AM – 3PM.

By the time we got out of the restaurant and back to the pool, storms were starting to move in. We did manage to go down a few of the waterslides, but as soon as we discovered the hot tub, the lifeguards closed things down due to lightning.

The radar did not look promising so we packed up and made it inside just as the deluge arrived.

In addition to the quick service and sit down options, there is a coffee shop inside with a vast selection of grab and go items. This is a nice option if you are looking for someone different to enjoy at the pool or beach.

Last but not least, you can stop inside for some souvenirs at the Margaritaville Store.

Overall, we had a great afternoon enjoying the amenities included with the day pass. It pains me to say that after all our visits to Nassau, we’ve never spent time at a resort like this during our previous visits. My point is that I don’t have any other options in Nassau to offer as a comparison with the Margaritaville Beach Resort (which we will change in the future). However, based on our experience, the day pass is definitely worth considering for its amenities and convenient location near the port and we would not hesitate to return in the future. I would probably not return to the restaurant, as there are many other options around with local fare, but the resort itself was enjoyed by all of us.
