The travel industry’s great and good assembled on 19 November 2024 for the results of The British Travel Awards 2024. Consumers voted in droves* and Saga Cruises scored big, with two golds, a silver and a bronze.
The prestigious awards reflect Saga’s extensive offering across all-inclusive small-ship luxury cruising (for the third consecutive year), boutique river cruises, and its creative marketing activity.

Construction begins on Transcend Cruises river ship

Transcend Cruises said construction has begun on its first newbuild riverboat, which it expects to put into service in 2026. The charter-only river cruise line held a steel-cutting ceremony last week for the ship, for which a name has yet to be chosen. 75+ people sick in norovirus outbreak on Holland America cruise

Nearly 80 people got sick in a norovirus outbreak on a Holland America Line cruise. Among the 1,923 guests on its Zuiderdam ship, 74 reported being ill during a voyage that began on Dec. 4, along with four crew members, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
